This is... Very contradictory with what happened earlier. Unless every Der looks exactly the same or somehow that old guy has a twin, it doesn't make sense that he was praising the Messiah before and now he's saying they don't need him. Seems like something you wouldn't say in front of the Messiah anyway, if you didn't want to anger them... So either the translation made a huge mistake (wouldn't put it past Scamsura) or the author himself had a brain fart (wouldn't put it past this one).
