When Liora’s true body had landed in the River of Time earlier, she had experienced the heavy weight of its waves crashing upon her. She had truly entered the river, as though it were an ordinary sea.
Yet things now were different.
Her advancement had granted her an even deeper understanding of the power of time.
More importantly, it had given her an authority—an ability exclusive to Ancient Devils.
The ability to trace back into the past and imprint her traces upon it.
The moment her split consciousness landed on the illusory waters, that ability activated on its own.
Liora’s field of vision rapidly shifted.
The River of Time and its banks disappeared from her sight.
What replaced it was a vast ancient city filled with the aura of cultivation and long-gone Eras.
Amidst this city, the thing that attracted Liora’s attention the most was the figure of a colorful dragon.
It was unmistakable. That figure was Liora.
Or rather, it was the Liora of the past, before her advancement to an Ancient Devil.
Liora’s split consciousness observed herself from the sky.
Her strength was still at the pinnacle of the Archdevil stage. Although powerful, she was far weaker than her current self.
However, that was about to change.
Liora’s consciousness casually pointed a finger.
A stream of light shot from her fingertips, landing on the Dragon of Time below.
Its eyes lit up. A profound look flashed across its face as it raised its head to look at her.
"I see..." A whisper escaped its mouth, and its aura began to surge.
In an instant, it had broken through its original shackles, advancing from an Archdevil to an Ancient Devil.
The advancement was instantaneous.
The Dragon of Time didn’t need to enter the River of Time nor struggle to take its Throne out.
Its Throne appeared at its banks on its own, as though this was how things had always been.
In the sky, Liora’s consciousness silently watched this scene.
Once she confirmed that the advancement had gone smoothly, her mind stirred.
A small illusory river condensed beneath her. As she took a step back, water splashed and swallowed her figure whole.
When she opened her eyes again, Liora was no longer in the ancient city. Or rather, not in the sky above it.
She found herself in the Divine Emperor’s Kingdom of God, rapidly swallowing the faith needed to construct her own Kingdom of God.
Her response to this sight was the same.
Following a flash of light, her self at this time point was also awakened.
"I see..." A whisper escaped her mouth as her aura began to rise.
Liora’s consciousness did not stay to observe.
She took another step backwards. Then another.
Scenes of the past appeared in her eyes.
The fierce war between the Emperors.
The matters of the Heavenly Armor Pavilion and the Mechanical Race.
The fight outside the city.
Little by little, Liora traced along her past through the Cosmic Universe.
Wherever she went, her past self would instantly advance into an Ancient Devil.
At the same time, a subtle connection would be established between them.
Although they existed in different time points, they were all the same person.
Slowly but surely, Liora sensed her foundation grow stronger.
It was not a matter of strength. Instead, it was similar to when she had strengthened her own bloodline. It was a matter of her very nature.
More importantly, with each part of her past integrated, Liora felt increasingly safer in her heart.
With her past selves possessing the power of Ancient Devils, no one could harm her.
Even if someone descended at those time points and tried to alter her past, she would be able to fight against them.
Liora did not think for long.
She continued.
Soon, she had traced back to the beginning of the extraterrestrial battlefield’s events.
Back to the Blood Forest Realm.
Back to the War Academy.
Scenes continuously flashed before her.
Until finally, Liora found herself in front of a small planet.
Nova Terra Planet. Her hometown in this world and the place where she had awakened her memories.
It was also the place that had witnessed the first signs of her rise. It was where she awakened her Predation talent and where she went through the Academy Examination.
Unlike the scenes before it, Liora spent much longer on this planet.
She watched herself fight the beasts in the forest outside the city, using her plundered talents and World of Heart to devour them.
She watched as she went to school and received help from Elena and the Dean.
After some time, Liora traced her past back to the most important point of the entire timeline.
The moment when she awakened her memories.
She was in the mansion left by her parents.
One moment, the reincarnated Liora was still clueless about her identity.
The next, the memories of her past life awakened, overwriting everything about her.
Back then, Liora had been unable to notice anything strange.
But now, she could sense several abnormalities.
"I see..."
"It seems that the late awakening of my memories was not an accident. Something, or someone, interfered. Otherwise, everything would have proceeded according to my original plan."
Liora pondered.
If she had to describe it, it was as if someone had deliberately placed a seal on her memories and bloodline.
As for the reason?
She had no answer.
However, she was bound to find out soon.
"Unfortunately, I still can’t sense anything about the Evolution System. As expected, its nature far surpasses the Ancient Devil level."
"However, this makes sense. Back then, the reason I was able to turn the tables on Hollow Ancestor and reach that agreement under the Demon World’s witness was because of the System’s ’weight’."
Liora shook her head with a chuckle.
She recalled how she had wanted to uncover the System’s mysteries in the past, when she had still only been a Greater Devil.
Now, it was obvious that this was impossible.
Let alone a Greater Devil, even an Ancient Devil was not qualified to know the truth.
She had simply been wasting her time back then.
Liora organized her thoughts.
After enlightening her past self and allowing her to become an Ancient Devil, Liora continued her journey.
She no longer spent much time observing herself.
After shattering the seal in her self’s memories and allowing her to advance, she would jump to the next point in time.
Soon, she had reached the very beginning. The date of her birth.
Watching the child in her mother’s belly gradually awaken its intelligence, Liora’s eyes narrowed.
She waited for the changes that could explain everything.
Reality did not disappoint her.
At the very moment of her birth, several powers descended upon this small, desolate planet.
Not one or two, but three!
