"Hmm... I thought we could get here in time." Alicia complained as she took a step forward, closer to the body... it looked like she’d expected that... well, since we appeared here out of every place in the building she obviously knows.
In the end the auction went on as if nothing had happened, the goods were sold to their owners... symbolically at least.
Meanwhile Alicia found some guards dead in isolated places without anyone knowing.
Their deaths were silent and quiet and not noticed at all, and among them was Raph too, who was found in a corner of the basement downstairs where nobody could see.
Alicia was discreet about handling that, gathering the bodies only took a few minutes, along with getting rid of any evidence their corpses had left on the walls.
And while the announcer started presenting the last items, I looked at the bodies lined up in the room as I listened to the comm devices ringing in their pockets, going off over and over until Alicia finally destroyed them.
The callers were just the remaining guards and the auction supervisors after they noticed the strange disappearance of their colleagues and their boss... they must be torn right now between looking for them and holding their positions.
"For some reason I feel like we’re the ones who did this and we’re trying to hide the traces of our crime." I said my thoughts out loud.
Alicia tilted her head as she sat on the couch, not caring. "You know you’re the cause of all of this."
She said it like it was the simplest fact... she’s kind of right, I’m the one who caused this, but.
"And you know you’re the one who caused me to cause this." I couldn’t help but smile as I watched her raise an eyebrow, before she relaxed on the couch and let out a tired breath.
"Big words for a troublemaker like you."
I almost raised my hand and put it on my heart in pain. "A troublemaker?... I don’t remember causing any trouble, well, let’s forget how some of it comes to me... like your aunt."
I walked over and sat on the other seat beside her as I looked at the auction floor through the glass. "So, what exactly is going to happen now, the Marquis is dead, does he have an heir or something and are you going to kick these people out."
"Hmmm..." she answered with a low hum.
"I don’t know... I don’t feel like dealing with this."
What a strange attitude... was the great Alicia really complaining about this.
Looking at the wound on her neck, maybe she took internal damage, not to mention the exhaustion from the battle and protecting me.
"So, what do you want to do?"
She put her finger on her chin with an innocence I wasn’t used to. "Maybe go have dinner."
I blinked. "You know I’m talking about the mess... oh and the few bodies lying behind us."
"Hmmm..." she hummed again as she turned her head toward me, her eyes blinking heavily. "Since you’re the cause of this why don’t you do me a favor and handle it."
I couldn’t help but laugh. "Hehe... are you in your right mind... how would I do that, bury them in the garden and pretend I didn’t see anything..."
Alicia’s lips trembled. "That’s a good idea..." She covered her mouth as she let out a faint yawn, her eyes trembling a little
"Are you really okay?"
She moved her hand away as she tilted her head toward me. "Hmm... I think my brain took some damage."
I narrowed my eyes a little. "Shouldn’t you go to a healer right now, instead of sitting here and waiting for your condition to get worse."
She put her elbow on the armrest as she lazily propped up her head, her crimson eyes fixed on me. "Are you worried about me?"
What’s wrong with her now, considering Medirin got to her I’m assuming it wasn’t just some torn veins.
She blinked as she waited for an answer, while I found myself coughing without meaning to. "Ahem... of course, why wouldn’t I be."
She smiled while I ignored the heat of embarrassment on my face. "I mean what if you collapse here unconscious... that would be a disaster dumped on me."
Her lips trembled. "Hmm... what a bad way to say that... can’t you be nicer to the person who just saved you."
"Haha..." I let out a nervous laugh as I tried to fix this.
"How about this, why don’t you go and get some treatment... I’m assuming that won’t take more than an hour."
She put her cheek on her hand as she sank down like she was about to fall asleep... her cold tone faded as it turned into something else. "Hmm... no."
I sighed, feeling weird... and a bit tense. "So?"
"Let’s just sit." She said, her eyes studying my face.
Avoiding her look, I glanced behind me at the dead Duke and some of his servants and guards, I doubted this was the wise decision. "Alright..."
Silence fell for a while, only the screen in front of me changed as it displayed the new item.
"I see you spend a lot of time with that annoying girl." I felt confused for a moment before I understood what she meant, my eyes drawn to her.
"You mean Emeris?" She answered with a lazy nod, which made me roll my eyes.
"And I see that you two hate each other, that makes me curious about the reason?"
She blinked heavily in my face. "I asked first... don’t change the subject."
I clicked my tongue as I ignored this behavior of hers... she was making me uncomfortable. "I don’t get what answer you want... it’s just that she shows up in the places I go to... and she’s a fun person."
Without saying a word, she shook her head in disappointment before she turned her attention away from me, answering my question. "There’s no reason, I just don’t like her... it’s like hating yourself."
I raised an eyebrow. "Do you hate yourself?"
Slowly her calm tone came back as she adjusted the way she was sitting. "Most people hate a part of their personality and their actions that they can’t control."
Some of her lazy behavior went away as she went back to normal, sort of, but the moment I opened my mouth to say something, something knocked behind us, which drew my eyes to the dark figure standing there.
At this moment all I could think about was why the hell do people appear out of nowhere like this.
And yeah... I need to find a Relic for instant teleportation.
